“You shall love your neighbor as yourself” - Matthew 22:39 (NRSV)
Jesus said, here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. Still, you are charged to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” We know love to be revolutionary, revelatory, compelling, confounding, transforming, and unifying. Also, “Love is a common sharing of a sense of mutual worth and value. This cannot be discovered in a vacuum or in series of artificial or hypothetical relationships. It has to be in a real situation, natural, free.”[1] As a region, we are more than neighbors gathered around one table. How might we give and receive this kind of love?
At the 2024 Regional Assembly, we gather to celebrate our regional life in covenantal love and action. Together, we will share a time of worship, reflection, education, business, and renewal. Prayerfully, we can embrace and embody love for one another as ourselves.
